Kun Tao
Hsing Yi Chuanb>Hsing Yi Chuan, which literally means, "mind body boxing," is one of the three internal martial ..... Kun Tao, which means "Fist Way", is a Chinese martial art that is practiced in Indonesia. Kun Tao's translation is similar with the translation for "Kempo" and "Kune Do." Chinese martial art students and practitioners will find many familiar techniques in Kun Tao, although the way they are expressed slightly varies. For instance, some popular styles practiced in Indonesia are Taiji, Shantung Black Tiger and Fukien regional boxing. However, these styles are executed differently in Indonesia. This deviation from the fighting art style as it is practiced in China is due to the different physical conditions and contacts made by Indonesian fighters with other martial art traditions. Compared to the various styles of Pentjak Silat, Kun Tao is not practiced openly in Indonesia. This is explained by the unpleasant history of the Malays and ethnic Chinese in Indonesia. Instead, Kun Tao is studied and practiced mostly by those who live outside Indonesia. Sifu Willem de Thouars is one of the well renowned teachers of Kun Tao in North America.
